Welcome to Corte Madera

A gateway to biking and hiking.

Just over the hill from Mill Valley and Tiburon, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Tam is the quaint town of Corte Madera.  Originally known for producing redwood tree lumber which was used primarily in the construction of San Francisco.  Today, it’s a mecca for young active families, who have direct access to mountain recreation, balanced with great school options and a sense of community.

Professionals, retired, and a plethora of families enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of the area throughout the year, with easy access to the other surrounding communities of Mill Valley and Larkspur, there is always something to do.

A mix of topography runs from flat lands with proximity to conveniences and the FWY, to hillside lots on windy streets with views to boot.  A variety of luxury, contemporary, modern and modest homes can all be found in town. Corte Madera really does have a little bit of everything when it comes to real estate.

WHAT TO LOVE

LOCAL LIFESTYLE

Corte Madera is a small town in southern Marin and was originally knows for the dense redwood trees and logging. Today it’s a town full of  families, retired folk and simply good people who love the outdoors and all the recreation that living at the foothills offer. The commute is easy to get to the 101 FWY, much easier than being off Sir Francis Drake. During the weekends, there al always families at their kids soccer games, kids enjoying the skate park or just hanging at the open air malls for shopping or for a quick bite. The best draw is for sure living on the foothills, as many of my friends are avid mountain bikers and hikers. A great way to balance your day after work is to get up into the mountain.

THINGS TO DO

Looking for a little exercise with stunning views, go for a hike on Ring Mountain Preserve with water views overlooking the central bay and towards Sausalito. This easy hike is not on everyone’s radar, so don’t be surprised when you find yourself alone on top of the world. Also, be sure to find the Native American petroglyphs, you will see a sign on the Tiburon side of the trail.

Well, I would not me without mentioned the annual Corte Madera Lion’s Club EV and Classic Car Show, started just a few years ago but with great turnout, enjoy the afternoon with other classic car enthusiasts and see all the new EV vehicles on the market sponsored by the local auto dealers.
